Everybunny Count! By Ellie Sandall

Cover to Everybunny Count! By Ellie Sandall

This gentle, jaunty rhyming book is perfect for springtime. With Everybunny Count! children will not only be counting the many interesting things the bunnies see as they go on their hide-and-seek hunt for Fox. They will also be encouraged to name what they see:

“We’ve spotted something in the tree,
Everybunny count to THREE!”

What’s in the tree? Well, your listeners can tell you. Three squirrels. Three gray squirrels!

“Tiny creatures in my paw.
Everybunny count to FOUR!”

(The tiny creatures are red and black ladybugs.)

On and on throughout the hide-and-seek game, everybunny counts, and everybunny has fun as each one hops through the woods, exploring creeks and beaver dams, and discovering a field of heavenly carrots. Everybunny Count! by Ellie Sandall, has pictures that are big enough to follow the action easily but have enough details to talk about in read after read.

If your listeners like cumulative stories with friendly animals, and you are looking for a classic to pair with this one, try If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, by Laura Joff Numeroff. Or, you could stick with the fun everybunny crew and try Ellie Sandall’s other book, Everybunny Dance!

This picture book reinforces the Grow a Reader practices of Narrative Skills and Vocabulary.
