Jumpstart's Read for the Record: October 19, 2017

Jumpstart's Read for the Record: October 19, 2017

Celebrate literacy by participating in the world's largest shared reading experience. During last year's Jumpstart's Read for the Record event, over 2 million people participated. Jumpstart is hoping for even more readers this year, and the Central Rappahannock Regional Library is going to help. Together, on this special day, we'll support the Jumpstart organization in its efforts to promote early childhood education.

On Thursday, October 19:Boy participating in Read for the Record: Quackers

Visit your favorite library branch to enjoy Quackers, by Liz Wong. Quackers is a delightful story about a kitten who grows up believing he’s a duck, until the day he meets another kitten. What follows is a sweet tale about understanding, acceptance, and learning it’s okay to be whomever you want to be!

After sharing the book, be sure to sign our log so that your family can be counted! Enjoy some activity sheets and a photo op, too! Be sure to tag us when you share it on social media with #ReadfortheRecord and @crrlnews

Reading aloud with young children—whether in the classroom, at home, or in the community—builds literacy and language skills and provides positive reading experiences that instill a love of reading.
