Affordable Housing: A Community Conversation

WHAT: Affordable Housing: A Community Conversation
WHEN: Monday, November 6, 7:00-8:30 PM
WHERE: Salem Church Branch, Central Rappahannock Regional Library

What’s the Problem?
Sound financial practices dictate that people spend no more than ⅓ of their income for housing, yet with the $7.25 minimum wage in Virginia and the rising costs of rental property and home ownership in our region, “affordable housing” is unattainable for many. According to the United Way ALICE Project report, 39% of Virginia families are struggling to afford their basic needs and are considered ALICE: Asset Limited, Income Constrained, and Employed. That means many working families are stressed, and the quality of life for our community overall is diminished.
